North Fork Numbers (“NFN”) provides a wide range of financial and accounting services to existing or start-up businesses. Headquartered in the beautiful North Fork Valley of western Colorado, NFN serves clients and partners across the western United States but maintains a focus on the Western Slope region of Colorado. NFN also specializes in the needs of non-profit organizations.

The majority of entrepreneurs and small business owners are by definition creative and gutsy. Not coincidentally, financial and accounting issues are often low on their priority list. Sooner or later that can lead to questions such as, “Where is all the money going?” “Where should we be focusing our efforts?” “Why am I profitable on paper but short on cash?” “Are our expenses out of line for this type of business?” “What should I do with this available cash” “At our current pace, when will we be able to add an employee(s)” “Should we rent/lease or buy?” “Why am I receiving notices from the IRS?” North Fork Numbers was created to help small businesses and non-profits answer these types of questions and more by providing access to a level of financial expertise beyond basic bookkeeping practices. NFN believes sound business decisions require a clear understanding of the short and long-term financial ramifications.

The second primary goal of NFN is to provide an option outside of traditional bank financing for your business capital needs. The old joke about traditional bank financing is that you can only get it when you don’t need it anymore. The constraints placed on most bankers generally do not allow for creative customized financing options for small businesses, particularly those without a long operating history. Furthermore, most bankers are bankers – not necessarily familiar with the day-to-day financial issues of running a business. NFN delivers bona fide entrepreneurial experience and the expertise of a former corporate Chief Financial Officer.

The broader goal of NFN is too help maximize the “multiplier effect” of capital circulation through the local economies of western Colorado, ie. keep local capital flowing locally rather than “shipping” it to the corporate headquarters of national chain-type conglomerates. Studies have proven that a single dollar spent at a local business circulates on average six times through a local economy.
